Senator Joe Leibham Named Wisconsin American Legion Legislator of the Year
State Senator Joe Leibham has been named the 2010 Legislator of the Year by the Wisconsin America Legion. The award was presented to Senator Leibham as a part of the 92nd annual Wisconsin American Legion Convention that was held in Wausau on July 16-18. In presenting the award, Leo Endres, Department Commander, said Senator Leibham was selected due to his outstanding leadership in support of the Wisconsin American Legion and its members. "Senator Leibham has demonstrated an untiring commitment to Wisconsin veterans," Commander Endres said. "Because of his dedication, Wisconsin veterans and their families have a collection of benefits that will protect them well into the future.” Senator Leibham, who has authored and supported numerous military/veteran legislative proposals over the past year, said he was honored to accept the award. "I am humbled by this recognition. While the award is appreciated, it really is unnecessary. The liberties, freedoms and security provided to me and my family due to the service and sacrifice of our military personnel, both past and present, are awesome awards received each day," Senator Leibham said. "I will continue represent our area by ensuring that the benefits and programs that we provide to our veterans and their families are maintained and enhanced." Senator Leibham was also recognized for his leadership on veteran's issues by Sheboygan American Legion Post #83 during their Spring Banquet in May. Post 83 1st Vice Commander Greg Eirich from Sheboygan and a number of other area Legionnaires joined Senator Leibham at the awards program. |

Recent Articles REPEAL: Why and How Obamacare Must be Undone Small Is Beautiful: A one-page replacement for Obamacare The Small Bill would cut health-care costs by:
- reducing runaway malpractice lawsuits,
- allowing Americans to buy insurance across state lines,
- allowing private insurers to offer lower premiums to consumers with healthier lifestyles,
- giving them a tax break similar to the one that is already available to those with employer provided insurance,
- increasing federal support for state-run or state-organized high-risk pools,
- getting the uninsured out of the ER and into less expensive routine care, converting federal funds for covering the costs of treating the uninsured in emergency rooms into block grants to states while gradually reallocating some of this funding to help finance the above proposals as the number of uninsured emergency-room patients is reduced,
- implementing a few additional regulatory and administrative reforms included in the House Republicans’ health-care proposal.
