Assembly Bill 174: “WERA”
April 22, 2025
“They’re Fighting for Abortion Until Birth — We’re Fighting for Every Life”
April 23, 2025According to data compiled by TakeBackTheClassroom.com, an alarming number of books—458 in total—have been identified across 22 schools in our area as containing content deemed pornographic or otherwise inappropriate for children. These books are not just confined to high school libraries; they are also present in elementary schools and early learning centers.
It’s time to stay informed—and stay vocal.
Despite growing awareness and concern, schools within the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD), as well as nearby districts, continue to make inappropriate reading materials available to students.
In SASD, even our youngest learners are affected. Cooper, Grant, and Pigeon River Elementary Schools each reportedly house the same book flagged for “pervasively vulgar” content. Additionally, the Early Learning Center has been noted for carrying a “red flag” book that contains what the site refers to as “progressive propaganda.”
Here’s a closer look at the reported numbers:
-
Urban Middle School – 33 flagged books
-
Farnsworth Middle School – 35 flagged books
-
Horace Mann Middle School – 45 flagged books
-
Central High School – 68 flagged books
-
South High School – 132 flagged books
-
North High School – 141 flagged books
Surrounding districts have also been impacted:
-
Oostburg School District – 65 flagged books across three schools
-
Sheboygan Falls School District – 93 flagged books across multiple schools
Now that the spring elections have concluded, it’s more important than ever to engage with our local school boards. Whether you’re a parent, guardian, or concerned citizen, your voice matters. Review what’s available in our school libraries. Ask questions. Demand transparency. Let your school board representatives know that educational excellence must include age-appropriate materials and the protection of our children’s developmental well-being.
